Pantry & Fridge Detox

This is sometimes a touchy subject for people…and one of the hardest transitions to make I have learned. Letting go of one way of being and trying to learn a new way is not easy, and can be overwhelming, I understand…it requires support. And I definitely am not here to judge, so do not worry! But you are here now, and maybe you are thinking you need a change? I would LOVE to help! Pantry and fridge makeovers are super fun…out with the old, in with the new!!

I will be there every step of the way to help you with this transition. This includes a shopping list, going to the grocery store together, education, and cleaning out anything that could be causing your body harm, and replacing it with healthy foods. You will also learn a lot along the way!

Cosmetic and Body Care Detox

Did you know the European Union has either banned or restricted 1,300 ingredients found in personal care products? Meanwhile the U.S. has only banned or restricted 11. Do you find that as mind boggling as I do?

I believe we deserve to have clean beauty and body products that don’t expose us to harmful toxins. Most people don’t realize what they are putting on their skin is also entering their bloodstream, and circulating throughout their entire body…clean ingredients matter.

Some harmful ingredients that can be lurking in our body care products are:

  • Aluminum – A heavy metal…heavy metals don’t need to go onto your skin. Period. It is mostly found in deodorants and makeup. Heavy metal toxicity can range from memory loss, to your hair falling out, to nervous system damage.

  • Sodium Lauryl Sulfate/Sulfite (SLS or SLES) – These are foaming agents…usually the second ingredient in hand wash, shampoo, and other detergents. They create the suds that make you think you’re being cleaned, but they’re actually stripping your skin and hair of their natural oils, which causes dryness. You don’t need suds to get clean.

  • Parabens – These are preservatives. You’ll see them listed as: Propylparaben, Isopropylparaben, Butylparaben, or Isobutylparaben in personal care products, pharmaceuticals, and even food and beverages. These can disrupt hormones in the body and harm fertility and reproductive organs, effect birth outcomes, and increase the risk of cancer.

  • Fragrances (Parfum) - Found in everything from shampoo to facial care, make up, hand wash and everything in between. They are endocrine disruptors and can mimic hormones in the body causing a world of issues that are listed above under Parabens.

  • DEA (diethanolamine) - Often used to make cosmetics more creamy or foamy. Found in moisturizers, sunscreen, soaps and shampoos. It can cause mild to moderate skin and eye irritation, and in lab studies, high exposure to this substance caused liver cancer and precancerous changes in skin.

  • PEGs (Polyethylene glycol compounds) – These are used as thickeners, solvents, softeners, or moisture carriers. These can be lurking in cosmetics and personal care products. PEGs contain impurities, which include ethylene oxide and 1,4-dioxane, and they are known carcinogens and respiratory irritants. Long-term exposure can cause damage to the nervous system.

  • BHA & BHT – Preservatives. Found in personal care products, make up, and even food. The EU has banned it, and California requires a warning label on the products stating that it may cause cancer, yet the U.S. gladly welcomes it into any products.

These are only a few of the thousands of toxins that are put into our cosmetics and body care products. The purpose of this list is not to scare you, but to educate you on what you possibly could be putting onto your body daily.

Household Cleaner Detox

Did you know that the air inside your house could actually be more harmful than the air outside of it?

If you’re using things such as:

  • Anti-bacterial/disinfectant spray and wipes

  • Counter spray

  • Glass cleaner

  • Stove cleaner

  • Floor cleaner

  • Bleach

  • Toilet bowl cleaner

  • Dishwasher tabs/detergent

  • Laundry products - detergent, fabric softener, and dryer sheets

  • Air fresheners – spray, plug-ins, candles, wax melts

Pretty much anything that is a conventional cleaning product is made up of toxic chemicals and artificial fragrances (which are also chemicals). These chemicals are very harmful to breathe in, and for your skin to come into contact with. They get into your bloodstream and circulate throughout your entire body causing toxicity.

The side effects from toxicity can vary in severity. They can be short-term effects such as skin or respiratory issues, chemical burns or watery eyes, to long-term effects such as asthma, fertility issues, ADHD, compromised immune system, cancer, and more.

The toxic chemicals found in household cleaners are:

  • Carcinogenic - they can promote and cause cancer

  • Endocrine disruptors - they will mimic human hormones and cause false signals within the body and lead to issues such as infertility, premature puberty, miscarriage, menstrual issues, ADHD and even cancer

  • Neurotoxins – effect brain activity and cause issues such as headaches and memory loss

A lifetime of using these products can definitely cause health issues, but the good news is, your body is always working to detox everyday, so simply by removing these products from your home, and replacing them with natural cleaning products, your body will begin to heal and detox!

It would be my pleasure to help you detox your home, and help you to replace your conventional cleaning products for safe, non-toxic ones! This will also help make the air in your house safe to breathe in!
