Help With Seasonal Allergies
My whole life I had seasonal allergies, mostly just in the fall and spring, sometimes in the winter…especially when we lived in North Carolina. I have come to realize, if you live in the southeast, something is ALWAYS in bloom! 🤧 Though research and trying different things to help myself, I am going to share what has helped me, in hopes it will also help others lessen, if not overcome their seasonal allergies too!
FOODS YOU CAN ELIMINATE: You probably don’t want to hear this, but dairy, gluten, and processed sugar (white sugar, labeled as “sugar” in ingredients) are the 3 MOST inflammatory foods that we can consume. And as we know, inflammation is the culprit to just about every known disease out there. These 3 things are unfortunately part of the standard American diet, AKA, SAD diet. Eliminating these from your diet will greatly help your seasonal allergies, and your WHOLE body, especially your gut and your brain! Luckily with gluten and dairy being an issue for many people, there are many, many, gluten free and dairy free alternatives out there available at your local grocery store!
A brand of gluten free bread that I love is Canyon Bakehouse 7 Grain bread, and you can either find it in the frozen section or on the shelf. And my go to brand of dairy free cheese is Dayia…but to be completely honest, I only use the shreds. They melt really nice on whatever you would normally put melted cheese on and have a good natural flavor.
SUPPLEMENTS THAT CAN HELP: (Many of these supplements are available on my Amazon Page for you to click on and add to your Amazon cart!)
Beekeeper’s Naturals Sinus Support -This supplement I HIGHLY recommend if you have seasonal allergies! It has 4 of the major allergy helpers in it you can take when the time arises, and it WORKS! (Available on my Amazon page.)
Bee Propolis - This has many, many health benefits but being an anti-inflammatory and immune support are two of the big ones. I recommend purchasing locally, and it must be kept refrigerated!
Quercetin - The flavonoid that gives fruits and vegetables their color. (Eat the rainbow!) It stops the production and release of histamines.
Bromelain - An enzyme found in pineapples. Helps to relives the swelling and symptoms.
Stinging Nettle - Anti-histamine, anti-inflammatory.
*All 4 of the above are in the Beekeeper’s Sinus Support supplement I mentioned above.
Chaga - Known as the “King of Mushrooms”, it is a functional mushroom that is a powerhouse for the immune system, and an anti-inflammatory. I highly recommend Four Sigmatic Chaga Elixer! (Available on my Amazon Page.)
Turmeric Curcumin w/Black Pepper - One of the major benefits of this is it’s a very strong anti-inflammatory. There are SO many wonderful benefits of this little root, and it’s a daily supplement for me. Please note, in order for the curcumins to absorb properly in the body, the supplement has to have black pepper in it! I love the Truvani brand and highly recommend it! (Available on my Amazon Page.)
Vitamin C – Necessity for proper immune function, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, helps other foods and supplements to absorb better in your body. (Available on my Amazon Page.)
Elderberry – Anti-inflammatory, helps to reduce swelling in sinus cavities, and contain anthocyanidins, which help stimulate the immune system.(Available on my Amazon Page.)
Spirulina – Stops the release of histamines that cause symptoms. I love Nutrex Hawaiian Spirulina and recommend it, I have been taking it for many years and it really helps! (Available on my Amazon Page.)
Probiotics – Necessity for proper immune function and whole body health! Helps restore the gut lining as well, which supports the immune system. (Available on my Amazon Page.)
Local Honey – Helps the body acclimate to local pollens in small doses to help your immune system realize the pollen is not actually harmful…think of it as a natural allergy vaccine!
Garlic – Anti-inflammatory, anti-viral, anti-fungal, anti-microbial (killing bad bacteria).
Ginger – Anti-inflammatory, reduces the production of histamines, helps the immune system to function optimally.
Green Leafy Vegetables – Anti-inflammatory, and full of essential vitamins and minerals that support whole body health.
Bone Broth – Anti-inflammatory, immune system support because it contains minerals that help heal the gut lining, and as we know, the gut is 70-80% of our entire immune system. (Available on my Amazon Page.)
Zinc – Helps immune system to function optimally. (Available on my Amazon Page.)
Honestly I could write individual articles on the benefits of each and every one of these natural supplements because they are all so beneficial for our overall health, and the proper function of our immune systems, but in effort to not overwhelm and make this extremely lengthy, I only listed the major benefits in reference to them helping with seasonal allergies. 😉
After reading this if you feel like you could use some help with supplements and boosting your immunity, I do offer individual Immune Boosting, and Vitamin & Supplement Counseling Sessions, and you can find more info about that on my website under the “Services” tab on my website.
